The Mount Brenton Golf Course board of directors decided that as part of the upcoming 75th anniversary in 2023, the club needed a mural to celebrate the occasion.

So was born the eighth addition to the Chemainus Festival of Murals Society’s Community Series.

The mural, on the north wall of the Mount Brenton Clubhouse facing Henry Road, was painted in 2021 by Cim MacDonald after her watercolour was discovered in the clubhouse attic by Club President Chris Fritsch.

MacDonald brought the original to life in 1991 to celebrate her membership at the club.

The new mural features aspects of the original, combined with a current-day flavour.

And keeping with wildlife history of the course a member suggested MacDonald insert one of the course’s ubiquitous squirrels into the mural.
