The Inspiration Continues

FilmingIn 1984, Petra Films of Vancouver, acclaimed for such award winning productions as Nails, Spartree and The Grey Fox, completed a documentary film based on the amazing comeback of Chemainus.

The film, The Little Town That Did, Executive Producer Karl Schutz, produced by Charles Wilkinson and Cal Shumiatcher of Petra Film Productions with special assistance from the National Film Board of Canada, tells the story of a town that would not die, of a community strong and determined.

It is narrated by residents, artists and visitors who tell of their experiences in their own words. Time lapse photography captures the process of the painting of some of the early murals, which appear like magic on the once-blank walls.
