What is behind the Shroud of Chemainus?

Join the fun on Saturday, Aug. 20, between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and help the Chemainus Festival of Murals Society and Anthem Properties celebrate the unveiling of three Emily Carr inspired murals in the lane between Utopia Bakery and Bonnie Martin Restaurant.

The three new murals bring the number of pieces of art dedicated to the life and work of Emily Carr, to five. The last mural in the series was completed in 2010.

 

 

Timing of events:
11.00 AM and 12:20 PM: Whimsy’s Quest for an Identity in Community puppet show
11.30 AM and 12.50 PM: Jazz recital by famous pianist Larry Blatchford
NOON: Unveiling of three Emily Carr inspired murals
11.00 to 1.30 PM: Meet our Emily Carr and listen to her incredible life and adventures
12.20 to 1.30 PM: Pretend to paint your own mural photography session
11.30 to 12.30 PM: Have your picture taken with an RCMP Red Coat
11.00 am to Sept. 15: Name that mural contest and win a Tofino Escape, courtesy of Chemainus Best Western
1.00 PM: Chemainus Jazz Festival begins
2.00 PM and 8.00 PM: Chemainus Festival Theatre performances of Footloose: the Broadway Musical

In partnership with: Chemainus Best Western Plus, Chemainus Festival Theatre, and the Cowichan Valley Arts and Cultural Society.
